Do You Know When to Have Brake Service On Your FIAT?

Routine maintenance and service is important for your FIAT, as we discussed in our last blog post. But let's get a little more specific this time: your brakes are vitally important. Not only do they help you safely slow down, but healthy brakes can prevent accidents.

Do you know when to have brake service on your FIAT? Keep an eyes and ears out for the following signs.

  • Brake pads: Your brake pads should be at least a quarter of an inch thick. If they're worn down beyond that, it's time to have them replaced.
  • Grinding: A grinding sound and sensation is most likely because your brake pads are totally worn down, resulting in your calipers and rotors rubbing together. At this point, it's probably time to replace both your pads and rotors.
  • Squealing: While fairly normal under wet road conditions, consistently squealing brakes regardless of road conditions can be a built in indicator that your brakes need service.
  • Soft pedal: When your pedal goes soft, meaning it takes more effort to engage your brakes, it could be because your brake fluid is low, or there may be a leak in the brake line.

When you need brake service, bring your FIAT into the Service Center here at Rick Case FIAT. We'll inspect and service your brakes quickly and accurately, so you can get back to enjoying your FIAT. Schedule your service online today!
